About the event
Join singer-songwriters Milton Hide for songwriting sessions aimed at experienced and aspiring songwriters.
It will start with a Songwriter’s Circle – introductions, discussion about your songwriting journey (or whether this is your first step on the journey), experiences, processes, barriers and solutions. Next, you’ll discuss some ideas for writing songs from stories and see if any natural collaborations start to form – strong lyricists working with those whose strengths lay in the creation of melodies. You don’t have to collaborate – if you’d rather work on your own, that’s fine. There are break-out areas in the building where you can work on your new songs before sharing for feedback from the group.
Milton Hide are singer songwriters, Jim Tipler and Jo Church. Jim has been writing and performing his own songs for over 30 years, Jos joined him in 2016 since when they have released 2 full length albums and an ep of their own songs. They play exclusively their own songs when performing.
Milton Hide are performing at Anteros Arts Foundation on Sunday 12th May, too.
Feedback about Milton Hide’s Songwriting sessions:
“I couldn’t sleep last night, I had so many ideas buzzing around in my head.”
“I woke up this morning (cue for a blues number) with all sorts of ideas popping through my mind, mostly lyrics and simple ideas to improve existing songs but also new themes.”
“I just loved the energy and enthusiasm generated within the group, both to experience it for myself and to see how it affected people so positively. It was brilliant to be part of it and has really inspired me to do more. A masterful example of group facilitation by the hosts.”
Anteros is an arts charity set up in 2010 dedicated to the education and promotion of the arts in Norfolk
